Abstract
A case of complete scalp avulsion due to conveyor belt is presented with brief review of several literatures.
A 30-years-old, married female patient was admitted to the Woo-Sok Hospital on July 13, 1971, one hour and half after accident in which her hair was caught in a moving conveyor belt with resulting complete scalp avulsion.
In the operating room, using aseptic technics, the avulsed scalp was shaved cleanly free from hair, and was cleaned with shaving and wiping of all fatty tissue.
After these works, the avulsed scalp was covered on the entire wound area, but we recongnized necrotic change of all covered scalp with failure of our works.
The clean wound dressing was continued until growing of granulation tissue for skin graft.
Two times of split thickness skin graft, 1st and 2nd, were performed on the entire wound area during admission.
The patient was discharged with good general condition using wig in order to covering of total loss of hair.
